This episode of Ask Dr. Jill features the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Dr. Jill Harkavy-Friedman and guest Dr. Deborah Stone of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Lead Behavioral Scientist, Suicide Prevention Team, CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control). They will answer viewers’ questions about recently released data from the CDC on suicide deaths for the year 2021 and what the new numbers tell us. From the increase in overall rates of suicide to disparities between different groups and ages, viewers will gain an understanding of what may be affecting the changing rates of suicide deaths, and how we can all play a role in preventing this leading cause of death.
